LAKE LURE

Lake Lure, NC: Nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains between Asheville and Charlotte, Lake Lure is world famous as a perfect mountain get-away. Smaller than Lake Lure, Lake Adger features 438 acres, 14.5 miles of shoreline, and a low density, upscale development surrounding the shoreline of over 3200 acres. Contuck Preserve offers 3/4 mile of trails along the Green River with their fantastic mountain view lots. Nearby Lake James/ Marion-Morganton

Lake James:  One of the largest lakes in the area, Lake James has 150 miles of wooded shoreline with 6510 acres. With accessible public marinas, all kinds of water activities are welcome...from boating and sailing to fishing and water/jet skiing. Rutherfordton, Spindale and Forest City

These three small towns form the core of Rutherford County. With picturesque main streets filled with antique shops and local merchants, the tri-cities offer a "small town friendly" atmosphere for everyone.

Rutherfordton, as the county seat, hosts the historic County Courthouse; Rutherford Hospital,( voted in the top 100 small hospitals) ; Rutherford Airport, catering to private planes; a children's interactive museum, Kidsenses on Main Street; a future Museum complex highlighting the county's historical Bechtler Gold Mint; and factory outlet stores for Doncaster/Tanner fine ladies apparel.

Spindale hosts Isothermal Community College, known for its innovative programs with local high schools, regional universities, continuing education courses, travel studies, television/radio studios, and business/technical courses. The Foundation Performing Arts Center at the College has featured performances by The National Symphony, Winton Marsalis, and Loretta Lynn.

Forest City offers larger retailers such as Walmart, Lowes, Staples; several hotels including Ramada and Holiday Inn Express; Chain Restaurants; Wellness and Rehab Centers with indoor pools; Shopping Malls and a Cinema complex;
