LAKE LURE

Lake Lure, NC: Nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains between Asheville and Charlotte, Lake Lure is world famous as a perfect mountain get-away. Rated by National Geographic as one of the top ten most beautiful manmade lakes in the world, Lake Lure now boasts the site of the 2006 HGTV Dream Home at Greyrock. From spectacular mountain views to rushing waterfalls, Lake Lure has it all: Championship golf courses, trout fishing, equestrian estates, fantastic hiking trails, and a downtown beach. The Lake measures 720 acres with 27 miles of shoreline. The Historic Lake Lure Inn and Spa crowns the downtown area.

Chimney Rock Village- Chimney Rock Park: The 1200 acre Chimney Rock Park is a nature lover's paradise. The famous Chimney Rock outcropping offers 75 mile views of the eastern valleys. Fairfield Mountains/Rumbling Bald Resort: On the northern channel of Lake Lure, Rumbling Bald Resort, formerly Lake Lure Golf & Beach Resort is an established, self-contained community. Lake Adger:  Just 10 miles southwest of Lake Lure, Lake Adger offers lakefront lots, mountain view lots with marina slips and horse farms. Smaller than Lake Lure, Lake Adger features 438 acres, 14.5 miles of shoreline, and a low density, upscale development surrounding the shoreline of over 3200 acres. The annual Steeplechase pulls visitors from all over the nation. The Foothills Equestrian and Nature Center, FENCE, features 300 acres for impressive hunter jumper events and dressage shows. Contuck Preserve offers 3/4 mile of trails along the Green River with their fantastic mountain view lots. Nearby Lake James/ Marion-Morganton

Rutherfordton, as the county seat, hosts the historic County Courthouse; Rutherford Hospital,( voted in the top 100 small hospitals) ; Rutherford Airport, catering to private planes; a children's interactive museum, Kidsenses on Main Street; a future Museum complex highlighting the county's historical Bechtler Gold Mint; and factory outlet stores for Doncaster/Tanner fine ladies apparel.

Spindale hosts Isothermal Community College, known for its innovative programs with local high schools, regional universities, continuing education courses, travel studies, television/radio studios, and business/technical courses. The Foundation Performing Arts Center at the College has featured performances by The National Symphony, Winton Marsalis, and Loretta Lynn.
